    After a massage

After a massage the muscles may feel sore the next day, especially after deep work. The relaxing effect can bring drowsiness already on the evening of the treatment. Drink water, move lightly and leave hard training for the next day.

What is normal after a massage

    • Muscle soreness the next day, especially after deep work
    • Drowsiness or relaxed tiredness on the evening of the treatment
    • Thirst
    • A mild headache, especially after neck and shoulder work

The rest of the day and the next morning

    Do

    • Drink water
    • A light walk or stretching
    • Sauna is a good fit in the evening
    • Sleep enough

    Avoid

    • Hard training on the same day
    • Staying still for a long time right after the treatment

Why the muscle feels sore after the treatment

Deep muscle work creates a mild micro-irritation in the tissue, which is felt the next day in the same way as muscle soreness after exercise. It is an expected reaction, not a sign of damage.

Light movement and adequate hydration support the metabolism of the treated tissue and shorten the soreness phase.

One thing that speeds up recovery

Take a short walk after the treatment instead of sitting straight into the car or at your desk. A few minutes is enough.

    When to send a message

    • The soreness gets worse instead of decreasing within three days
    • A large bruise or clear swelling appears
    • Numbness or radiating pain appears

Frequently asked questions about massage aftercare

Why do the muscles feel sore after a massage?

Deep work creates a mild micro-irritation in the tissue. The soreness resembles muscle soreness after exercise and is an expected reaction.

Do I need to drink a lot of water?

A bit more than usual is enough. No special amounts are needed.

    Is sauna okay?

Yes, sauna is a good fit after a massage and supports relaxation.

    Can I train?

Light movement is fine. Hard training is best moved to the next day so the treated muscle has time to recover.

How often should I have a massage?

It depends on the situation and the load. For maintenance an interval of 3–6 weeks is common. We agree on it during the appointment.
